Description

fine scale wheels

These wagons are based on the Railway Clearing House regulations of 1907. Charles Roberts as a major wagon builder must have had a considerable influence in the drawing up of these regulations. This is evidenced by the fact that the wagons being built by Roberts in the 1900s, on which this kit is based, were virtually indistinguishable from the 1907 design.

Based in Rotherham the Parkgate Iron and Steel Co was well known for the quality of its Iron and steel. Its steel being used from every thing from bathtubs to battleships.

In 1906 Parkgate Iron and Steel Co Ltd placed an order with Charles Roberts for 25 wagons. These wagons were built in January of 1907 and were side door only. At the time of construction our 7mm ('O'Gauge) version, would have been fitted with a brake on one side only.

The running numbers for these wagons were 910 - 934.

The livery being a maroon body with white lettering shaded black.
