Carriages were in pairs, sharing a bogie between the two, thus reducing friction and improving ride quality.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe train first ran on 27th September 1937 and achieved an average speed of 63.3mph (101.9km\/h) between King’s Cross and Bradford. It was hauled by\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/uk.hornby.com\/products\/dublo-lner-class-a4-4492-dominion-new-zealand-r30422\" href=\"https:\/\/uk.hornby.com\/products\/dublo-lner-class-a4-4492-dominion-new-zealand-r30422\"\u003eGresley's ‘A4’ No. 4492 ‘Dominion of New Zealand’\u003c\/a\u003e, which had emerged from Doncaster Works only three months earlier.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eServices were suspended for the duration of the Second World War, but were reinstated in 1949.
