The Fruit D wagons were large ventilated vans designed for transporting fruit. They were first constructed by the GWR and then later by BR and could be seen as part of a freight or passenger train.
Out of the fruit season they were often used as parcel or freight vans and later when their use was eclipsed by road transport most were permanently converted to parcel or store use.
