History

First taking to the skies in 1939, the Focke-Wulf FW190 posed a significant challenge to RAF fighters upon its introduction in late 1941, being both faster and more agile than the Spitfire V at that time.

The F-8 was designed for ground attacks and was distinct mainly due to the absence of outboard cannons. It could carry various underwing armaments, most commonly featuring a central bomb and four smaller bombs on the wings.

The A-8 model was the most produced and heavily armed version, entering service in 1944 to counter Allied daylight bombing raids. However, by this time, newer Allied fighters had started to surpass it.
