Product Info

This BR Intercity - Mk4 - 82218 Driving Van Trailer comes with directional lighting, extra detail accessories and a 21-pin decoder socket, allowing you to fit an HM7000 decoder and speaker, giving it sound options. This DVT is compatible with BR Intercity Mk4 coaches and a BR Intercity Class 91 locomotive.

The model is finished in the classic 1990s InterCity ‘Swallow’ livery of white with a dark grey mid-section and a lower red band, with full yellow ends. DVT 82218 still exists as a barrier/translator vehicle owned by the Harry Needle Railroad Company.

History

The BR InterCity Mk4 DVT was designed to work with Mk4 carriages on the East Coast Main Line as a driver control car working in push-pull mode with Class 91 electric locomotives on InterCity 225 trains. Introduced in 1990, the DVT would normally be marshalled at the south end of the train, adjacent to the First Class carriages.
