The new Routemaster LT50 – to give its full title – was the successor to the iconic old London Routemaster which for six decades had been a tourist attraction in itself. The new RM was designed by Wrightbus from Northern Ireland and represented the first bus in 50 years that had been designed and produced specifically for the streets of the Capital. In addition, this modern PSV was fully accessible, user friendly and runs on the latest green technology.
For its latest route, we see it as the 38 to Hackney Central, registered LTZ 1002. Decorated with a bright green body and cream waistband, the bus features a white roof panel with ARL LT2 printed in black, so it is identifiable from the air. The Arriva lettering and logo are printed in yellow above the front passenger door and on the offside above the driver’s window. The window surrounds are black and on this release, there are no advertising panels. London Transport lettering is also printed in the same yellow colour and behind the front nearside wheel arch, you can spot the Arriva London North Ltd address, 16 Watsons Road, Wood Green London N22 4TZ.
The three sets of passenger doors are closed and are printed with modern signage and passenger instructions. Looking inside, the interior is moulded in dark grey with red seating and red stairs to the upper deck creating a smart contrast on this very attractive little bus.
